This morning after I got done nursing Whitney, I noticed her umbilical cord officially fell out! It is so fun to see Whitney's new belly button. I think belly buttons are really one of the most bizarre features on our bodies. Now, we can give Whitney her first real bath. We have been wet wiping her and wiping her with a wash cloth, since we have been home. It will be very interesting to see how she responds to a full fledged bath. I am excited to get her all fresh and clean. I love the smell of clean babies.
Today we also went to see her pediatrician for a weight check. When we left the hospital, Whitney weighed right at 7lbs, which was 1lb less than her birth weight. In the past week she has gained 7 ounces, which is almost an ounce a day. It is such a good feeling to see her grow and really thrive off of all the breast milk. I really am enjoying this time to bond with my baby girl.
We also had a great visit this afternoon from Rebecca Runquist and Landon. Whitney had a chance to check out her first older man. I will say they were quite the cuties next to each other. It was so nice to catch up with a mom that is a few months ahead of me. I look forward to many fun play dates with Rebecca and Landon, while I am out on maternity leave. Thanks for the muffins, Rebecca. They are GREAT!
