To Grammy & Grandpa's house we go!

It's Sunday and the Penningtons (yes all 3 of us) are heading to my parents for dinner.  It is so great to get out of the house for fun and not a scheduled appointment.  My parents have been so wonderful helping Aaron and I with Whitney.  I am so lucky to have a Mom that is such an amazing cook.  As Aaron said, he feels like he is on the cruise ship again, because he gets a dessert with every meal.  Hopefully, he won't get too used to it.  Or maybe I will have to become a better cook, while on maternity leave!

It's funny as I think about what it took us to head to my parents.  I mean they only live 20 minutes away.  I can think of all the times we would head to their place for a Sunday dinner. Usually, Aaron and I would just head to the car and go.  Our packing list included just us.  That's it!

Now with Whitney, it is seriously a well thoughtout plan of attack.  We fed her before we left, changed her diaper, packed up all of her belongings (sleeper cradle, diaper bag, breast pump supplies, etc.).  Then we headed to Olathe.  Aaron and I only forgot one thing with all of our packing.  Aaron had put together a bottle for Whitney as her supplement to my nursing.  We accidentally left that at home.  So, I got to pump a little early, and then pick up a couple bottles, while I was at Target.  I had been wanting to go to Target all week, and had 30 minutes, while Aaron was with my parents and Whitney before feeding.  I think this is our lesson to get some "back-ups" at Grammy and Grandpa's house.

My Dad smoked some ribs, and my mom made the most amazing sides and desserts.  It was such a great escape from Prairie Village, even if it was for a few short hours.  I look forward to more outtings to my parents very soon!
