Today we went on a guided tour through the Blue Mountains. We started at Fetherdale Wildlife Park with morning tea and breakfast. We got to see all sorts of native animals. Aaron fed some kangaroos and wallabies. We also got to touch a koala.
Later we headed towards the Blue Mountains. We had lunch at a lovely golf course. We found out that a couple on our tour work at Cerner hospitals in Chicago. One was an ER doctor at Northwestern and the other was a pharmacist at Cook County. I guess you are never as far from home as you think.
Unfortunately, the weather was rainy, so the clouds were hanging low on the mountains. The clouds were so dense we did not see any of the views of the region. The Blue Mountains has an old story about the "Three Sisters". They are three rock formations in the Blue Mountains who symbolize the three beautiful sisters who were turned to stone by the witch doctor. Too bad we couldn't even see past our hands. Nonetheless, we got to walk through a rain forest, while it was raining. How perfect right!
All in all, the tour was fun, but we will have to put the Blue Mountains back on the list for our next trip to Sydney.
Once we made it back to Sydney, we found out that there was a huge shopping district on the backside of our hotel. For the last two days we always turned left to head towards Circular Quay and the Rocks. I was excited when our tour guide drove by all the shopping. I took Aaron for a stroll, once we dried off from our tour.
For dinner we at at the an AMAZING pizza place. If you go to Sydney you will have to try this restaurant in the Rocks. It is called Zia Pina Pizzeria. Aaron and I were in heaven. When we returned to the hotel, we enjoyed the complimentary champagne from our hotel. They spoiled us with a happy anniversary card and champagne for our 5th anniversary. They are only a few months early, but who is counting. Aaron and I have had such an amazing 5 years together in marriage. We are so lucky to have found each other. We cannot imagine life any other way.
Cheers!
