All I can say is we did it! Aaron and I bungy jumped off the famous Kawarau Bridge where bungy jumping was invented. We jumped 42 meters, which equals approximately 138 feet. I was scared beyond words. I think I tried to pull the guy helping to rig me up down with me. I definitely sounded like a broken record saying "Oh my god!" a million times over.
Regardless, after the count down of 3 - 2 - 1, I closed my eyes and jumped. I didn't even scream as many of you suspected. I was too busy holding my breath for the 3-5 seconds that I was free falling, praying that the bungy cord held. You can check bungy jumping off my list. I told Aaron…one and done!
All in all, it was a pretty spectacular rush and leap of faith. I am so glad that we both did it. I jumped first, lord knows why. I think I couldn’t stand waiting any longer and questioned if I would jump if Aaron went first. Because I jumped first, I was able to see Aaron’s perfect swan dive. He was nothing like me. He moved towards the edge of the platform with ease. He was so calm, cool, and collected. You would have thought he was out for a stroll off a bridge. I am sure none of you expected any different. I am so glad we had the opportunity to share this experience together. It was a memory for a lifetime. Now, let’s drink!
