Well, we have officially been home for 3 days! There is something absolutely priceless about being in your own home to boost your energy and speed up your recovery time. Don't get me wrong, the hospital nursing staff at Shawnee Mission Medical Center did a wonderful job and they were very supportive, but there is really now substitute for some quality time at home. Now, also factor in a record high temperature of 76 degrees in January and you have the perfect recipe for a speedy and healthy recovery.
Today, the weather has been unseasonably warm for the month of January. Despite being fresh out of the hospital, Aaron and I could not pass up a quick walk around the park. Porter Park is literally right next to our house, so we bundled Whitney up in her car seat and hooked her into her new stroller. The sheer sunshine could boost any one's spirits. It was so fun to give Whitney a walk around the park for the first time. We saw so many kids out in the park with their parents. Many were playing in the playground, some were out for walks too. It was so wonderful to share in the joy of other Prairie Village parents on this amazing January day. We had so much fun!
Whitney had a great walk! Well, we think she did, because she pretty much napped the entire time. Her overly excited parents took so many pictures to make sure we didn't miss a moment of this first walk. Aaron and I did a couple laps around the park, making sure we didn't over exhaust my new found energy post c-section and then headed home. We are so glad to be at home and so excited for many more walks to come. This has been a truly magical Monday.
