Today we enjoyed beautiful views of the ocean coast line and the mountain range that spans along the beach of Kaikoura. The town of Kaikoura is quite small, but has a very quaint atmosphere. We did some shopping at the local boutiques. The Paua shell is very famous in New Zealand and everywhere. It is a beautiful shell. I managed to find some goodies in all of my browsing. Go figure!
We ventured up to a scenic lookout and captured some great photographs of the town and coastline. It is unreal how you can see the mountains behind us. Kaikoura had a temperature in the 70s and both ocean and mountains. Can you say heaven! We were so lucky that we got up early to capture these great photos.
We had planned a whale watching excursion in the afternoon; however, the seas were a bit rough so we postponed until tomorrow. Since we had extra time we decided to hike a trail along the peninsula of Kaikoura. We had amazing views along the bluffs and shoreline. It was spectacular to see the views. Aaron and I played follow the leader which was quite amusing. Mom, I think all of my Disney time and Peter Pan really payed off.
After our hike we had one of the best dinners yet at the White Morph restaurant. The meal was absolutely spectacular. Finally, a meal worth paying for on our vacation. Kaikoura has delivered twice on reasonable priced and satiating meals. I absolutely recommend everyone come and visit. This town is spectacular.
Tomorrow, we will head to Blenheim. We are looking forward to seeing more great countryside. Most of our drive will be along the Northern coastline.
