Aaron's family made the trip from Meade to help celebrate his birthday weekend with us. We were so excited to host his family. They haven't had a chance to all come up to visit in a couple years. Aaron's sister, Marcy, and brother-in-law, Tony, came up to Kansas City on Thursday evening with the kiddos. We had a blast playing with the kids and hearing all of their stories. I cannot believe how fast the boys are growing up. Even little Laura was walking around, exploring all of the new sights. We enjoyed most of the weekend outside soaking up the awesome weather. It was so great to finally use all of the patio furniture again.
For Aaron's Birthday we went to the Kansas City St. Patrick's Day parade. We have always wanted to go, but unfortunately his birthday has always been on a weekday. This year we had our entire Saturday to celebrate this milestone. We had a great time watching the parade. We definitely got some interesting people watching in for a while. I think pretty much anyone who was Irish had the opportunity to submit an entry in the parade. There were so many floats that highlighted a different Irish family.
After the parade, we got some Oklahoma Joe's and headed back to the house. We enjoyed some awesome lunch and birthday cake. No, I didn't make the cake. We can thank Whole Foods for their culinary excellence. If you have not tried their cakes, you absolutely need to go out and buy one. They are fantastic. In addition to being St. Patrick's Day and Aaron's Birthday, the NCAA March Madness Men's Basketball tournament was in full swing. The rest of the afternoon we soaked up some great basketball games. Unfortunately, K-State didn't realize they were supposed to win on Aaron's birthday. It was a little disappointing to watch the men finish out their basketball season for the year.
For Aaron's birthday night, his parents watched the kiddos and Aaron, Marcy, Tony and I went out to meet up with some friends at Waldo's Pizza. I reserved some tables in the Tap Room, which worked out perfectly. My friend Megan put together the best cupcakes and cake pops. We had all sorts of friends show up and help us ring in Aaron's big day. We had some great pizza and drinks at Waldo's Pizza, then ventured out to Lew's. First of all, I never even knew this bar existed in Waldo's, but we ended up finishing our night at Lew's. They had these ridiculous large boots of beer. The guys took it upon themselves to have boot races to see who could finish the boot of beer first. Thanks to my brother-in-law, Tony, Marcy, and Aaron finished a boot in 2 minutes and 15 seconds. RIDICULOUS. I am sure you can imagine where the night went after that.
All in all, we had a wonderful birthday weekend. Here is to 30 more birthdays AND MORE to come.
